Purely and simply the best piece of contempory theatre I have seen in a long time.  I enjoyed it, my children loved it and so did my husband.

Ahhhhh……….Kids back at school, peace reigns once more, the days are still too short!

We had a lovely end to the summer with a very enjoyable week in Yorkshire with close friends, we visited the Kilnsey Show, Ingleton Falls, Settle, Skipton and stayed in Arncliffe which is possibly one of the prettiest villages I have ever seen.  I managed a little bit of sketching but really the week was just abut being with friends, getting lots of fresh air, visiting the show and well…relaxing.

Sadly nothing else seems to relax while we are away so there is lots to catch up on.  Preparing for the Frome Decorative Arts Exhibition, submitting for BANA New View show in November and generally continuing to stive to get better and better.

July kicked off as usual with the Frome Festival and the Artists Open Studios which for me went very well, over the two weekends we had over 500 visitors and many who returned from previous years and yes bought things which was brilliant.  I’m already thinking of how things can be organised for next year!

I’ve also taken over managing the Friends Scheme for Black Swan Arts in Frome (www.blackswanarts.org.uk) so there will be lots to do for that and we are planning a regular “plinth” exhibition featuring a different local artist each month.

In November there is the Frome Decorative Arts Exhibition coming up so lots of planning is going into that too! I’m teaming up with Kate Cochrane and Chris Talman to bring hopefully a really inspiring display. Dont’ miss it! www.fromedecorativeartsexhibition.co.uk

We’ve done a lot of visiting and trips, Bristol Zoo, Norfolk to visit my mum, Great Yarmouth to visit old Art College friends, Woodstock for a super treat weekend, more very good food, Wookey Hole for Phoebe’s birthday, Lyme Regis for a few days and shortly off to Yorkshire.  I had a big birthday this year – no I will not say which one, work it out.  However, I was royally treated to a lovely trip to Bath, staying at The Milsom Hotel (fantastic fish in the restaurant) and visiting the Theatre Royal to see “The Madness of George III” which was fantastic.  Very interesting that in the same week we had popped down to see friends who are staying in Lyme Regis where Kate Adams is appearing in “The Salty Socks of Dunkirk”.  two very different pieces of theatre but both wonderful.  If you get a chance to catch Salty Socks on tour, then do, really great fun, thought provoking and the kids enjoyed it too.  What more could you want.

Finally we have had family gatherings, impromptu parties and lots of visits from friends, so a busy but satisfying time.  The children are both starting new schools in September so I will really relax once they have settled in.  But for now on to Yorkshire for lots of walking, Kilnsey Show, good friends, good food (more) and good fun.  Aren’t we lucky!

Back to the grindstone now with a vengence, lots of work up in the Arc Theatre, Trowbridge and duo lines of preparation for The Old Mill exhibition in Worton, 1,2,3 and 9,10 July.  Immediately followed by the Frome Open Studios – phew!

The other thing is Artists Statements, exactly what do people want to know about me?  Do they even care?  I just don’t know, anyway I shall try my best to make it sound interesting without people falling asleep half way through.

And amongst this I have to pack for a week in France, that’s if the £$%”£$^%^*&! Ash Cloud lets us off the ground, fingers crossed.

But I need to get my labels done, pack to go away this weekend, think about packing for France over half term, think about hanging in The Arc Theatre Trowbridge next Friday, the day before we go to France!  Arts Cafe to keep an eye on, I’ve taken on helping TheBlack Swan with the friends scheme.  I have dozens of cuttings to plant out, and my potatoes won’t stop growing.

Plus I have a HUGE bruise on my elbow from falling over when I was gardening, really it’s huge and on my elbow and hurts, yes I have used arnica!

Oh and now supper is ready!
